Boiling Point

How to play

Boiling Point is a frantic four-player potion-brewing card game. Everyone shares one cauldron that will not say how close it is to boiling over. Stack it, read your rivals, and try not to be the one who tips it.

The goal

Score the most points across five rounds. You earn points by adding valuable ingredients to the shared cauldron — but every ingredient carries a hidden volatility, and if the cauldron’s secret boiling point is crossed, it booms. The brewer who tipped it eats the loss.

A round, step by step

  1. Brew in secret. On your turn, add an ingredient to the shared cauldron. Each carries a colour, a point value, and a hidden volatility — the risk it nudges the pot over the edge.
  2. Cast & bluff. Spells from your grimoire bend the brew — peek at the pot, swap an ingredient, ward yourself, or hex a rival. Nobody knows the exact boiling point. Everybody pretends they do.
  3. Push your luck. The longer the cauldron climbs without booming, the bigger the pot — and the bigger the loss for whoever finally tips it.

When it boils over

When the cauldron crosses its boiling point, it booms. The brewer who added the ingredient that tipped it takes the hit; everyone else banks what they read correctly. Then the ledger unfurls and the next round begins.

Winning

After five rounds, the brewer with the most banked points wins. Read the table, dodge the boom, and know when to stop stacking. Push your luck — but not that far.
